ENGINEERING PROPOSAL

The pathway to a healthier city Intro Pollution is a big issue in NYC and it’s known that transportation makes up approximately one-third of New York’s overall emissions. Although we have an efficient public transportation system which consequently leads to a low car ownership rate our traffic pattern proves that car culture is still alive.  Every year motor vehicles contribute approximately 11% of the local fine particulate matter and 28% of the nitrogen oxide emissions. The city has been actively finding ways to reduce emissions, but it has not been enough to reduce the rate to a drastic change. The …

First Draft Lab Report

A question being asked by many in our society is what is life going to look like after thispandemic? Could society possibly rethink of implementing the changes put in place during thepandemic as the new system? A lot of people’s lives have changed due to this virus: kids andyoung adults are to take remote classes; adults are experiencing job losses due to the shut down ofthe economy and so forth. All these issues add on to the mental health problems that individualsare experiencing. It seems surreal almost like a movie, but this is what life has become the “NewNormal” and …

Adjusting to changes caused by Covid-19 and establishing a “New Normal”

A question being asked by many in our society is what is life going to look like after this pandemic? Could society possibly rethink of implementing the changes put in place during the pandemic as the new system? A lot of people’s lives have changed due to this virus: kids and young adults are to take remote classes; adults are experiencing job losses due to the shut down of the economy and so forth. People are less more likely to interact in person (less dinners in group settings, less outings etc.) than before and also more jobs are moving to …

Journal #10

In our final week of the semester we had to finish up on all our major assignments and submit our first draft of our engineering proposal and have it reviewed by our peers. I received some constructive criticism from one of my classmates who pointed out something quite important that was lacking in my essay. It lead me to go back to my draft and include some missing parts to write a complete proposal. After correcting I had to expand it to fulfill the page requirement of this writing, which turned out to be quite easy for the most part. …

Journal #9 Engineering Proposal

For this week we had to write an engineering proposal about something quite important pertaining to NYC. I decided to address the issue of pollution in NYC and how transportation plays a role in this unsanitary matter that has come to attack this city.  Although we have an efficient public transportation system which consequently leads to a low car ownership rate our traffic pattern proves that car culture is still alive.  Every year motor vehicles contribute approximately 11% of the local fine particulate matter and 28% of the nitrogen oxide emissions. Journal #8 Topic Proposal

The topic of the proposal was the assignment of the week. I had to identify a need for a specific engineering innovation, the design and production of which I had to conceive and propose. Initially, I chose to speak on the health care system of NYC, which is a matter of great discussion among the citizens of this city, but surprisingly finding research information on the matter proved to be quite a hassle which compelled me to find another topic to speak about. I ended up choosing something related to health but this time the health of the environment which …
